Fieldstone Center: BCHS Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health
Mental illness affects more than 100 million Americans. Yet, one-third of the men, women and children suffering from mental illness are not getting the treatment they need. The goal of Fieldstone Center is to help people with mental illness through a variety of state-of-the-art treatment methods and environments.
Myths of Mental Health
Myths and stigma about emotional disorders are major problems faced by the mentally ill and their families. Many people who do not hesitate to consult a dentist, lawyer or other professional for help with various types of problems are reluctant to take their emotional problems to a mental health professional. Those suffering with mental illness deserve the same compassion and support as those afflicted with physical disorders.
Help for Adults and Seniors
When help is needed, the Fieldstone Center stands ready-as it has for more than 100 years-to provide treatment. Our aim is to restore a healthy balance and build a strong foundation of inner resources for adults and older adults suffering from mental illness. We strive to evaluate and treat the immediate problem and the entire person.
Our goals are to reduce the symptoms of mental and emotional disorders, improve personal and social functioning, develop and strengthen coping skills and promote behaviors that make a person’s life better. By achieving those goals, patients gain a deeper self-understanding which contributes to a more productive, fulfilling life.
No one needs to solve problems without support of others. When mental or emotional problems reach the point where life becomes unmanageable, the guidance and support of experts can make the difference.
Fieldstone Center helps people who are having personal, family or relationship problems. Specialized inpatient programs, provided by a multi disciplinary staff, help each patient develop treatment goals, realize those goals and return to a healthy life.
